Hello Friends -
As noted in the Faith Formation Schedule, the Annual Parish Retreat Day for Grade 7-9 for our parish family is on Saturday, February 9, 2019. This annual retreat is part of the comprehensive faith formation program your child is engaged in and listed in the faith formation schedule you received in early fall at orientation. This annual retreat is part of your child's preparation and formation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in Grade 7.
The annual retreat scheduled in February is a day set aside each year for the young church grades 7-9 to gather along with their catechists to learn more about themselves, their classmates, including members of their Theological Reflection Group (TRG), in relationship to Christ and His church. The theme for this year’s retreat expands on the theme for the Faith Formation Year: Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ.
Seminarian Drew Crabtree and Catechist Kasey Wagner, Faith Formation Program Coordinators for Grades 7-9, along with seminarian catechists have been preparing for this day. Retreat information and reminders have shared with students as well as printed in the recent editions of the parish weekly bulletin, One Family In Faith. A fantastic day for the young church has been planned. We are ready!
The annual retreat day will include games, activities, prayer, witness talks, game of Jeopardy, time before the Blessed Sacrament, recreation and students will be introduced to new ways to pray within our tradition, and build community. The afternoon will end with Mass and with departure scheduled for 4:30 PM. Lunch will be provided.
Faith Formation students who choose to absent themselves from Saturday’s retreat are asked to contact Kasey Wagner before 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 9. Students absent will need to make arrangements with Kasey Wagner to participate in an alternative archdiocesan or parish day of recollection before December 31, 2019. Another option is to submit written work equivalent to the material presented by interviewing a classmate and a presenter from the day’s program, a minimum of 4 pages with one-inch margins, 12-point font, and double-spaced.
