The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is sponsoring the 20th nationwide “prescription drug take back initiative.” This event is one of the few days of the year where citizens can drop off expired or unused prescription medications in a safe, convenient, and responsible manner.
Vaping pens WITHOUT batteries and vaping cartridges will also be taken, but please keep in mind that this program WILL NOT ACCEPT NEW OR USED NEEDLES.
This service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. The “take back initiative” seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through the proper disposal of prescription drugs. Collection sites will set up nationwide.
Drop-off points throughout Spencer County will accept drop-offs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, 19392 Indiana 545 and Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department, 190 N Holiday Boulevard.
