Where Have You Seen God Since the Last Time We Got Together?
A Review of Last Session's Student Session Wrap-up Questions
What did Rabbi Gamaliel say about Peter and the disciples who were in jail?
Gamaliel said if the disciples come from God, their message will last, and holding them in jail is fighting against God.
In the Gospel reading, why didn’t the disciples ask who the man on the shore was?
They didn’t ask because they knew it was Jesus.
How does Jesus surprise us like he surprised his disciples in the Gospel reading?
Jesus surprises us when he comes when we don’t expect him or when we have little hope.
Why is Jesus described in the Gospels as the Lamb of God?
Jesus saves us and unites us with God through his sacrifice on the Cross.
What is a sacrifice and what is the perfect sacrifice?
A sacrifice is an action or offering made to God to express thanksgiving, to fulfill a vow, or to make up for a sin. The perfect sacrifice is Jesus’ Death on the Cross because it is an example of God’s love for us

Sunday Readings
Old Testament: Acts 13: 14, 43-52
New Testament: Revelation 7: 9, 14b-17
Gospel: John 10: 27-30
Scripture Background
The Gospel Readings for the Sundays of Easter continue to witness to the Good News of Jesus’ work of salvation. This Sunday we hear the Gospel of the Good Shepherd. The imagery of this passage gives us comfort and assurance. Jesus will care for us like a shepherd cares for his sheep. Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me“ (John 10:1 4). The relationship is reciprocal: we stay close to Jesus and trust him as our Shepherd, Jesus guides us and protects us, even to the point of laying down his life for us. The Gospel ends with a dispute among those present. This too is relevant for our time. We can believe in Jesus and accept him as our Shepherd, or we can be among those who misunderstand or simply reject his teachings.
Connecting Scripture and Doctrine
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church
“The Church is, accordingly, a sheepfold, the sole and necessary gateway to which is Christ . . . the Good Shepherd and Prince of Shepherds, who gave his life for his sheep“ (CCC, 754).
“The Church is the Body of Christ. Through the Spirit and his action in the sacraments, above all the Eucharist, Christ, who once was dead and is now risen, establishes a community of believers as his own Body“ (CCC, 805).
