Join our brothers and sisters throughout the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on Sunday, November 21, 2021, by supporting the annual appeal for Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection.
In the United States, one in eight people lives in poverty. With this collection, you support programs that address the root causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those struggling across the country. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect remain in our archdiocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and those working on the margins.
Pregnant women and struggling families with young children require assistance with their material and spiritual needs, regardless of their background. For low-income Hispanic women, this is especially true, because linguistic and cultural differences pose unique challenges for pregnancy volunteers and pastoral ministers.
More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd.
An envelope for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is included in the November envelope packet. Please make sure your check is made payable to the parish church, clearly marking in the memo CCHD (4029.400). The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ "... to bring glad tidings to the poor ... liberty to captives ... sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free." (Luke 4:18)
The belief that those who are directly affected by unjust systems and structures have the best insight into knowing how to change them is central to CCHD. CCHD works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out.
