St. Meinrad Cemetery Commission Chair Brian Greulich offers this update on projects completed or planned for the St. Meinrad Cemetery:
The dead trees at the entranceway into the section will be removed by spring.
Cleanup day is planned for Saturday, March 16, in conjunction with parish cleanup day.
A flagpole will be installed at a location where an existing light will illuminate the flag at night.
Getting quotes for repairs to the older metal crosses and their bases will take place this year.
Work will begin to clean the older, tablet-style stones of algae and staining. Materials should arrive in time for cleanup day, if weather allows.
Flush-mounted engraved stone gravesite row markers will be installed; we currently have samples to choose from.
Planning is underway for annual or semi-annual fundraisers for ongoing cemetery expenses.
Upcoming cemetery commission meetings are July 20 and September 22 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Office, Room G.
The September 22 meeting is a joint meeting of both St. Boniface and St. Meinrad cemetery commissions, and genealogy will be added to the agenda.
