Thanks to all for your efforts in planning and hosting the annual parish picnics. Picnic reports will be available soon after picnic leadership teams submit all the invoices. I have filed the Gross Receipts Reports with the Indiana Gaming Commission, due within ten days of hosting the annual picnic. From what I can see from the preliminary reports, picnic expenses have increased a little over 15% since 2021.
Both picnics are necessary to sustain our financial stability. St. Boniface Parish uses most of the picnic revenue to offset the cost of utilities and property insurance averaging $30,000 a year. St. Meinrad Parish uses most picnic revenue to offset the expense of cemetery care and maintenance, averaging $24,000 annually. In reviewing the June financial reports, the last month of our fiscal year, (in the August 14th Sunday Bulletin) you may have noticed that utilities for St. Boniface Parish exceeded 20% more than budgeted and St. Meinrad Parish 10%.
Income for Sunday and Holy Day and Restricted Gifts received for July 2021 through June 2022 remain steady. Both parishes remain debt-free, operate within projected budgets and have contributed to savings and endowment accounts for short-term expenses and long-term goals. Thank you for your generosity throughout the year.
A reminder in the coming months, please watch for the Annual Picnic Quilt envelopes in your monthly stewardship envelope packet. Your gifts support the artisan's work crafting the quilts featured at the annual picnics. Both parishes have recently eliminated the "quilt group lists." Great job in using the envelopes for 2022. Please keep it up as we prepare for the 2023 picnics.
