Are you ready for Lent? Make it count! Make it count for you and your spiritual needs as well as the needs of others. Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. The 40 days period symbolizes Jesus's time in the desert before he began his ministry. Ashes are to be worn in humility, not as a show of holiness, but as an outward expression of our inward desire to grow and change. The Christian call or vocation is to a life of daily conversion. (Mark 1:15) These outward signs or sacramentals communicate outward expressions that reinforce and manifest our inner realities. The ashes should remind us that we have inwardly committed to changing our lives and following Jesus.
Remember You are Dust and to Dust You Shall Return - Genesis 3:19
Let us ask our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Sorrows, to help us to make a good Lent as we begin our Bona Opera (Good Works) today. Mary shared in the suffering and redemptive passion of her Son. May her intercession help us in our spiritual combat against sin! May Mary, the first and greatest disciple of the Lord, accompany us throughout this Lenten season as we prepare to celebrate the joy of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday.
Remembering you in prayer today!
